Thinker Thinker Little Star was started in 2009 and is owned by Eggscellent Productions
Pte Ltd. Our website is supported by two Singapore government agencies - Creative
Community Singapore, under the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts
(MICA) and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA).
Our website is dedicated to providing a creative forum for children of all ages,
while providing fun and entertainment for the whole family. It is also our responsibility
to ensure that personal information and intellectual property of our members are
safeguarded and not misused. Our privacy policies clearly outline the various measures
that this website adopts to ensure that the security of parents and children are
not compromised, and also to ensure that Thinker Thinker Little Star remains a family-oriented
website. The privacy policy listed here is effective as of 1 September 2009, and
applies to all sections, both interactive and non-interactive, on the website. We
reserve the right to alter, revise or change our policies. In such an event, members
will be notified by e-mail via the addresses provided during registration.
- Collecting personal information
If a child wishes to sign up as a member of our website, parents will have to complete
the registration process on behalf of the child. Provision of particulars such as
parents’ names, place of work, contact numbers, home address, billing address, credit
card information and NRIC/FIN number is mandatory. Parent can then choose a username
and password for their child. Parents are encouraged to have their own username
and password so that they can use the public forums, which are closed to children.
Please note that once we receive the particulars, an e-mail will be sent automatically
to the e-mail address provided, and parents will have to click on the link for authentication.
Another email will then be sent to the parent, requesting written verification from
a teacher in the child’s school to a) verify the details given for the child and
parent b) verify that the child is indeed a student of that particular school c)
to verify that the child has good moral behaviour. Once we receive the e-mail FROM
THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF THE TEACHER/ EDUCATOR, specifically stating a) the name of
the teacher/educator b) name of the school c) teacher’s contact details, including
home address, and other verifications as stated above of the child concerned, we
will send a third and final email confirming that the registration has been completed.
This is to ensure that only children submit creative works, and also that only parents
and teachers/educators interact in the forums. This helps keep away people with
ill intentions from our family-oriented website. Parents and children can then use
their usernames and passwords to log into the website. Please note that members
will only be able to browse the website if the registration process is not completed;
they will be able to participate and contribute after the school’s e-mail verification.
Our forums are intended for discussions, interactions and other helpful communications.
However, this part of the site is closed to children for security reasons. Only
parents and other adults can use these forums for interaction, with their separate
usernames and passwords. Please take note that we discourage the display of personal
and/or obscene information which is not appropriate for the website. (please see
our terms and conditions for further information). Although
we do our utmost to ensure that all our members are respectable, law-abiding citizens,
please also be warned that the site will not be held accountable if you choose to
share private information and the information is misused. Members are advised to
stick to the guidelines while interacting in the forums. We may conduct polls or
surveys from time to time to understand what our members expect from our site, how
to improve the site and which areas to develop further. Please note that you will
not need to provide personal information when participating in these polls/surveys.
However, if you wish to make a complaint/enquiry/suggestion/feedback, we will ask
for your e-mail address, so that your concerns can be addressed directly to you.
A membership fee will be charged to access the facilities on this website, so provision
of details such as parents’ details, billing address, home address and credit card
details is compulsory. We will not use your personal financial information for any
other purpose other than for collecting payments due to us. We will not sell such
information to third parties for commercial or promotional purposes. Any information
you enter voluntarily will be retained by our payments processing vendor for the
sole purpose of processing payments accurately and will be safeguarded appropriately.
Please note that if you choose to withhold mandatory personal information, your
membership with us may remain incomplete. This also means that access to certain
interactive areas of the website, including services, products or other information
will also be denied. We remind you once again not to disclose any personal financial
information in the forums or other discussion areas.
- Purpose and storage of information collected on the website
As stated in section 1, the email address of the parent is required to complete
the registration process. In order to ensure that users do not violate this site’s
terms and conditions, we may track the usage and submissions of a particular user.
If a user is found abusing or misusing the site or bullying other users, three warnings
will be issued to the e-mail address provided, after which, the user will be temporarily
or permanently banned from the site, to the webmaster’s discretion. Parents and
teachers will also be notified if the child submits any inappropriate content, if
there are any amendments to the policies of the website, and with updates on offers,
programs and other services. If we are required to disclose information by law,
i.e. in response to subpoena or court order, or to other partners who offer services
to our website and who are bound NOT to reveal the information, we will do so. If
the website feels that submitting personal information may help protect the security
and integrity of the website, or protect the safety of children and parents, or
aid in any public investigations/matters, then the website is liable to do so. Should
there be any future transaction with regard to a sale of the website, merger or
partnership, personal information of members may also be shared. We will take care
to ensure that third party websites or companies do not use your information obtained
from our site to advertise to our members and users.
We have various managerial and electronic procedures and safeguards in place to
prevent unauthorised access to your account (e.g. through security questions), help
maintain data security and to ensure that data is not misused.
- Updating or changing personal information
Members are requested to ensure that all information given in the personal details
are accurate and up to date. This is to ensure that if a parent needs to be reached
over some concern regarding a child, it can be done as soon as possible. Please
take note that the financial information provided including billing and home address,
credit card information and other details should also be updated if there are any
changes. Members can change or update the information in their accounts simply by
clicking on the edit details link. If you choose to delete your account with
us, simply click on the delete account link, and any personal details that you have
entered will also be erased immediately.
